Communities & anchors
Here's how the last week went. It started off with seeing Taylor Swift in Stockholm with my daughter. An amazing experience, and an incredible community of women, girls, gay people and the occasional Swiftie dad. Followed by a trip up to Lofoten, Norway, one of the most beautiful places on earth. With a strong local community, and a fascinating diaspora of photographers, hikers and even surfers. Here's the harbour at Reine at midnight.
Ending up with a long trip back, and a positive test for Covid - my first. Leaving me isolating for the benefit of my community (even though there's now no official interest in this).
So I've spent the last week in a fevered state, scrolling social media as we begin our push to promote the social web and take Newsmast onto more platforms - Bluesky, Threads, nostr, Farcaster and LinkedIn. It's been hard, but inspirational - there's so much going on. As I've begun to feel better, I've been sketching out our plans for Patchwork (watch this space!) - and for the first time, bringing this all together in a blog.
Being active on so many platforms, feeling like a nomad on each, there's a strong need for an anchor to all that activity - a blog. One of the oldest forms of internet interaction, thirty years old and still going strong. So here I am, reaching out to another community, on a very small scale, and seeing where this goes.
